IT Notification- Phone Maintenance (10/27/2011 7:00 AM)

Technology Issues Notice:

This morning GRCC will be completing its transition to a new phone service for local and long distance calls. As part of this transition, there are a few things to be aware of:

By 7:00 AM, we will temporarily reduce the number of lines available for external calls to prepare for the change. You may receive a busy signal when trying to make an outside call. You can help by limiting external calls to business purposes or delaying external calls until after the transition occurs.

At 8:30 AM, the phone company will initiate a transfer of our numbers from the old provider to the new one. There will be about a 30 second period where calls can not be made to/from the college. As with any technology, there is the potential for problems which could result in a longer outage. Calls that are in progress when the switch occurs should not be affected. Internal calls will not be affected.
