IT – Technology Issue ~GroupWise system reboot. (12:45 pm)

Technology Issue Notice: GroupWise instability caused by excessive connections to network through unauthorized methods. System reboot needed.

Issue Summary: GroupWise has become increasingly unstable over the last 12 hours. Personal devices attempting to use POP and SMTP gateways cause the email system to have difficulty operating and the GroupWise email program eventually crashes on staff desktops.
Staff should not attempt to utilize POP or SMTP access to the GroupWise system as they are not supported methods of access and these devices do not behave properly on the network.

Disturbance Resolution Details: The GroupWise email system was shut down and restarted to clear out access from devices that were causing excessive polling on the network.
