As part of our continued effort to provide and improve our technology services, a wireless survey of the Main Building is scheduled in order to determine how we might best migrate this building to the latest 802.11n wireless technology. (802.11n wireless technology was recently deployed in Sneden Hall.)
Upgrading the wireless network is a labor intensive process requiring the equivalent of several days of effort.
To best assure accuracy, we need to disable the current wireless network in the Main building during the hours the contractor is conducting the survey.
The survey is scheduled to take place immediately following the holiday break.
The wireless network will be unavailable in the Main building from Monday, January 4th through Wednesday, January 6th, from 8 am to 8 pm each day.
It is our desire to minimize the impact of this survey by scheduling the work during a period when there are no classes and the attention of the staff is focused on Learning Day.
Wired connections to the network will not be affected by this work. Only wireless connections will be affected.
If this outage of the wireless network in the Main Building on these scheduled days presents a significant barrier and you cannot utilize a “wired” connection, please contact the IT Help Desk at 234-3688.
